This past week in Independent Study and Mentorship has been a wild one. Last week was definitely chaotic, and I am very glad I made it out alive and sane. Last week, I had the Research Showcase, competition showoffs for Stars, and competition, so needless to say, it was pretty hectic. The Research Showcase, however, was fantastic and I am a little bummed it is my last one. It is so interesting to hear people's questions about your research, mentorship, or even just your topic of study. It definitely forces you to think about the hard questions, as those are the ones that people love to ask. Not only that, but it truly is such a boost of confidence to hear people rave about your work, or your display board, or just about how professional and put together you were. It helps to know that the work and time put into this program really does pay off in a big way, even if we, as students, do not always see it. It truly makes such a difference in professionalism, and events like the Research Showcase really put this difference on display. These are the skills that, if we carry with us, will make such an impact on our lives and careers.
