ABOUT ISM

Independent Study and Mentorship (ISM) is a challenging course that allows juniors and seniors to study a topic of their choosing. Students that are interested in the class go through a rigorous application and interview process, and must be selected to participate in the class. Throughout the year, students participate in informational interviews with professionals in their career or topic of study, and carefully select a mentor to shadow for the remainder of the year.

Students are taught business and social etiquette, public speaking and presentation skills, and the ability to gain real experience in a professional environment. They also develop an original work project, and conduct research assessments over articles that relate to their topic of study.
