This past week in Independent Study and Mentorship has put a lot of emphasis on the upcoming research showcase and our original work. Although the research showcase seems like decades away, it is in the middle of January and I know how fast it will sneak up this year. It is nice, however, that I have my display board already completed and a plan in place to complete my original work as early as possible. My plan for my original work this year is to complete research in the same sense as my final product last year, except utilizing data from patients who have undergone curative resection for pancreatic cancer patients alongside the data we have collected and the analysis we have completed for the patients who underwent curative resection for gastric cancer. This will allow me to collect a wider range of data for my descriptive paper that I will complete in the spring as my final product, and will hopefully get published through the assistance of Dr. Mansour. We also began research speeches last week, and will finish them this week. Mine was only ten minutes over the time limit, and honestly I was rather impressed that I managed to keep it so short.
