It truly is hard to believe just how quickly my first year in Independent Study and Mentorship has finished. This year has given me such incredible opportunities, and I am genuinely excited about both continuing in the program and continuing under the mentorship of Dr. Mansour for a second year. There is so much left for me to learn in surgical oncology, and I feel that I have just barely scratched the surface. On another note, Dr. Mansour and I completed my final product, which is very exciting. I am incredibly grateful that Dr. Mansour has invested so much time into this product as well as this mentorship, as I know that he is the main reasons why I have had so many wonderful and fascinating experiences and opportunities this year. With just a week until the due date for my final product, we decided that it would be smarter to not write the descriptive paper detailing my findings, however I hope to write the paper for my original work next year so that way we can get it published. My final product consists of a set of data analysis detailing my findings in weight loss trends following curative resection for gastric cancer, and the results were actually quite surprising.
