This week was a week of education and research. As I begin to look further and deeper into the field of nanotechnology, I have realized there is an incredible amount of research I must partake in. I have recently purchased The Emperor of All Maladies by Siddhartha Mukherjee and have decided to start the beginning of my research here. This book is the biography on cancer, and will hopefully help me to understand the molecular makeup of cancer, which will hopefully help me to be able to apply the knowledge I have gained and will continue to gain on nanotechnology. This upcoming week, however, is one which I am incredibly excited for. I have my first mentor visit on Wednesday, November 16th, and I am incredibly excited to begin the mentor journey. I also have my research speech on Tuesday, which I am both excited and nervous for. I have never been particularly fond of public speaking, and ISM is definitely helping me to develop more skills in public speaking. It is something that I am going to need to develop for use in the future and I think that the skills I will develop giving these speeches will help to nurture and grow these skills. Overall, I am incredibly excited to begin the next leg of my ISM journey and see where this mentorship takes me.
