After a long and drawn out process, I am excited to be finally wrapping up the last few of my interviews. I have a solid idea of who I would like to have as a mentor, and as long as I am not blown away by my next two interviews, I have a feeling that my idea will come into fruition. I am incredibly excited to get the mentor track started, as seeing others in my class and around me get mentors has served to both push me and to encourage me. I have an interview tomorrow with Dr. Joseph Murphy, a pediatric surgeon, and I am excited to hear his perspective on medicine and surgery. After a disappointing last interview, I hope this one goes much better and much more smoothly. I am still generally undecided if I want to focus neurosurgery or surgical oncology, however I think that my final decision will be greatly impacted by the doctor I choose to be my mentor. No matter the final outcome, I am still incredibly grateful for this fantastic opportunity to study a potential career. Even though sometimes it may be difficult and challenging, it is all in preparation for college and for my future.
